Care Instructions
- Before washing, all “treasures” should be removed from the pockets, the garment turned inside out, and all fasteners and buttons closed.
- We recommend using special detergents for outdoor clothing, available at drugstores or specialist retailers. These protect the waterproof membrane on the inside and the water-repellent finish on the outside of the material.
- After washing, open the garment, pull it into shape and let it air dry.
- The garment can be ironed if necessary and according to the instructions on the care label.
- Before storing outdoor clothing for the next season, it should be washed and, if necessary, waterproofed. This removes residue from snow, rain, or sweat and protects the membrane.
- Water-repellent coatings should be refreshed after about 4 – 5 washes.
- There are three common methods available to re-waterproof a garment:
- Use of waterproofing spray
- Washable waterproofing
- Applying wax
- Always check whether the waterproofing agent is suitable for the material and follow the instructions. We recommend a waterproofing spray from a specialist outdoor clothing retailer.
- After wearing, swimwear should be rinsed with clean water, as chlorine and salt water can damage the fibers of the fabric.
- Swimwear should not be washed with garments that have Velcro fasteners, as these can damage the surface. Alternatively, a separate laundry bag can be used.
- Drying clothes in direct sunlight should be avoided. Strong UV light bleaches colors and damages the material. Gentle drying in the shade is just as effective and helps preserve the colors and elasticity of the fibers for longer.
- Especially with wool, the less often you wash it, the better for the fibers. If there are odors, it's often sufficient to simply air the garment outside.
- If a wash cycle is necessary after heavy soiling, always use the wool wash cycle and only use suitable wool detergent.
- After washing, the still damp garment can be rolled up in a towel, gently squeezed out and then unwrapped and left to dry lying down.
- Due to the open, soft structure of our wool, pilling may occur on the surface. These small balls are caused by friction. They usually disappear after a few washes.
- Treating with a pilling shaver also removes the lint and makes the material look smooth and even again.
- Dirt on shoes is best removed with a brush followed by a damp cloth. For stubborn dirt, a care and cleaning foam helps.
- After cleaning, it is recommended to place the damp shoes at a sufficient distance from the heater to dry and to fill them with newspaper from the inside to remove the moisture.
- Our leather shoes remain supple and weatherproof in the long term thanks to care with shoe polish and shoe wax.
- Finkid shoes can be waterproofed with a suitable protective agent. We recommend a PFC-free waterproofing spray available from specialist shoe retailers.
- Stains can be removed with a damp cloth and soap. Solvent-based stain removers and washing in the washing machine or dishwasher are strongly discouraged!
- The water-repellent finish can be refreshed with a PFC-free waterproofing spray for textiles. Reflective surfaces should be excluded.
- We recommend applying BUDDY REFLECTIVE STICKERS only to the fabric, not to the reflective surfaces. Otherwise, adhesive residue may remain or damage the surface.
