GENERAL CARE INSTRUCTIONS

  • Each material has individual care requirements. It is therefore important to follow the instructions on the care label.
  • As a general rule, wash as little as possible and only as often as necessary.
  • Many stains can be removed separately with a damp cloth and soap before the whole garment ends up in the wash.
  • Stain removers containing solvents, fabric softeners and bleach should be avoided.
  • Garments should always be washed with similar colors.

SPECIAL CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR OUTDOOR CLOTHING

  • Before washing, all "treasures" should be removed from the pockets, the garment should be turned inside out and all fasteners and buttons should be closed.
  • We recommend the use of special detergents for outdoor clothing, available in drugstores or specialist stores. These protect the waterproof membrane on the inside and the water-repellent finish on the outside of the material.
  • After washing, open the garment, pull it into shape and air dry.
  • The garment can be ironed if necessary and according to the instructions on the care label.
  • Before storing outdoor clothing for the next season, it should be washed and impregnated if necessary. This removes any residue caused by snow, rain or sweat and protects the membrane.

REFRESH THE WATERPROOFING

  • Water-repellent coatings should be refreshed after about 4 - 5 washes.
  • There are three common methods for re-impregnating an item of clothing:
  1. Use of waterproofing spray
  2. Wash-in impregnation
  3. Application of wax
  • You should always check whether the waterproofing agent is suitable for the material and follow the instructions for use. We recommend a waterproofing spray from a specialist outdoor clothing retailer.

SPECIAL CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR SWIMWEAR

  • After wearing, swimwear should be rinsed with clear water, as chlorine and salt water can damage the fibers of the fabric.
  • Swimwear should not be washed together with items of clothing that have Velcro fasteners, as these can damage the surface. Alternatively, a separate laundry bag can be used.
  • Drying clothing in direct sunlight should be avoided. Strong UV light bleaches colors and damages the material. Gentle drying in the shade is just as effective and helps to preserve the colors and elasticity of the fibers for longer.

SPECIAL CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR WOOL

  • The following applies to wool in particular: the less often it is washed, the better for the fibers. In the case of odors, it is often sufficient to simply air the garment outdoors.
  • If a wash cycle is necessary after heavy soiling, always use the wool wash cycle and only suitable wool detergent.
  • After washing, the damp garment can be rolled up in a towel, gently squeezed out and then unwrapped and dried lying down.
  • Due to the open, soft structure of our wool quality, pilling may occur on the surface. These small pills are caused by friction. They normally disappear after a few washes.
  • Treatment with a pilling razor also removes the fluff and makes the material look smooth and even again.

SPECIAL CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR SHOES

  • The best way to remove dirt from shoes is with a brush and then a damp cloth. A care and cleaning foam helps with stubborn dirt.
  • After cleaning, it is advisable to place the damp shoes at a sufficient distance from the heater to dry and to fill them with newspaper from the inside to remove the moisture.
  • Our leather shoes remain supple and weatherproof in the long term by treating them with shoe polish and shoe wax.
  • It is possible to waterproof finkid shoes with a suitable protective agent. We recommend a PFC-free waterproofing spray from specialist shoe retailers.

SPECIAL CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR RUCKSACKS AND BAGS

  • Stains can be removed with a damp cloth and soap. We strongly advise against using stain removers containing solvents and cleaning in the washing machine or dishwasher!
  • The water-repellent impregnation can be refreshed with a PFC-free impregnation spray for textiles. Reflective surfaces are not affected.
  • We recommend applying the BUDDY REFLECTIVE STICKER only to the fabric, not to the reflective surfaces. Otherwise residues of the adhesive or damage to the surface may occur.
